Hi,

I have noticed some red patches/line on my (approx) 9 year old female tortoise’s plastron. Do I need to get her checked out? She seems perfectly happy and is eating/ pooping normally. I would really appreciate any help you may be able to give me.

It follows the growth lines, so I think it's extra blood flow to support shell growth.

If it was septicemia, she would be very ill.

Hopefully someone else will stop by with an opinion.

Thank you for your response.
That is what I’m thinking too (after having a big panic about it all!) I’ve booked her in to see a vet tomorrow to get her checked over so hopefully find out more tomorrow!
