I had two eggs laid 9-17-12. One hatched 12-28-12 and the other has not can i consider the second egg is bad seeing that it has been about 4 weeks from when the first one hatched.

Never consider anything "bad" untill it explodes. I've had all sorts of things hatch from eggs that most would consider no good. Just because one animal in the clutch hatches doesn't mean the others won't follow weeks or possibly months after..........

Eric and Ed are right on the money .....hang on to it~ I will most of the time "isolate" those kinds of eggs , so when and if they do explode it doesn’t make a mess all over the bator' and any other eggs still serving time.

I belive you have your torts/turts mixed up ....Maybe a RES in 49 days , but no way a RF tortoise ....or any kind of tortoise for that matter.

Well checked incubator this morning and the other egg has hatched. The first one at 115 days and second at 153 days. A little over a month difference.

Congrats. Nature can sure show signs of beauty. This is a good reason to be patient when hatching torts.

Picture of new hatchling. Will put both together tomorrow for a picture tomorrow.
The one today had very little of a yoke sac
Compared to its clutch mate that hatched a month earlier. 🐢
