I have a 1 y/o redfoot. I keep him in an inclosed tortoise table. My question is will he always need to stay in a humidity controlled environment?

Coming from humid South America, they have evolved to live in humid conditions. So, yes, you will always have to provide plenty of plants and humidity for the tortoise to live comfortably. It won't have to be in an enclosed area, but you will need to have a rain forest type area for him. My RF tortoises live outside year round. There is only dappled sunshine with very few spots really open to the sun. I have tall trees, several shrubs and plenty of humidity and moisture year round for them.

Hi Yvonne. Is there any photos on here of your redfoots enclosure anywhere. I'm looking for ideas. Yours sounds good.

I have a beautiful female redfoot that I keep indoors, so let me offer a few words based on my experience with Anna:
1. Try to keep humidity at 60% plus 70-80% would be ideal, but we're never going to get their habitat *exactly* right, so we just do best we can. You can find a thermometer/humidity measuring device at petco for like 5 bucks. Def worth it.
2. Try using a mister spray in your redfoot's terrarium. You might even spring for a humidifier like http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0019IJXD2/?tag=exoticpetnetw-20
OR

I own the zoo med fogger, and even though it breaks down often it's not bad.

3. If you haven't already, buy this book: http://www.amazon.com/dp/1441494030/?tag=exoticpetnetw-20

It's awesome and has more or less everything you need to know to get started.

Congrats on your new tort. You're going to fall in love.
