It's 7:44 am and I am waiting to get into the vet. I am the proud owner of a rescued male Leo!! He was found out wondering farm fields and in and out of barns. Unfortunately since I picked him up he has been fighting a respiratory infection. He has been in quarantine and will remain there for a couple months or more before I introduce him to my big female Marley. Here are a couple pics, he is so outgoing and friendly. Rarely pulls into his shell and loves his neck scratched lol.

Glad he was found to get some help. But, did you try to find his owner? That really should be done before just keeping him as your own. Most likely someone his looking for him.

He is a looker. I agree with the above. If one of mine managed to escape, I would not only be devastated, but worried sick wondering if they were ok.

Yes of course all options have been exhausted as to trying to find the owners!! We put up signs, notified the county and the city and nothing. If I lost my tortoise my city would be canvased with flyers looking.

Speaking of found and/or lost tortoises, is there a way to mark/chip them like we do our dogs and cats to be identified? A GPS type of Lojack system. I would be devastated if mine was stolen or wandered off never to be seen again.

I know some folks have their veterinarians place a microchip in the leg of their tortoise for identification purposes. Very good for proof in ownership arguments.
