RFT very hide selective

How can I get my tortoise to use his other hide more?
He refuses to use any of the hides I provide except for the wooden bridge hide he has had since forever, right now he has a big apple crate on the cool side (27-28⁰) and he still chooses the bridge hide. At first I just thought he might only like those types so I got him another one, but he still prefered his old one I also thought the placement might be the reason but it seems to have nothing to do with it, he just really likes that particular hide. I even put blinds on the entrances of the crate in hopes that he'll want to use it more, but he just likes to walk in and out of it. I know they are creatures of habit, but I can't help but feel bad even though he has a choice...

(P.S, the temp and humidity in the second picture was low because the top was open, it's usually higher)

They definitely have their favourite spots. At some point he might change his preference. The old hide is near the deep heat projector - maybe that's why he likes it.

Why is it important which one he uses? Appearance? That's me. I want the habitat to look nice in my den.
My Russian is very finicky and contrary. Seems he wants whatever I don't. I find less stress by adapting to what it is he wants.
They are creatures of habit, stubborn and hate change.

lol our red foot favours spots too, have you tried swapping the hides? Because you might find it’s the actual spot in the enclosure and not the hide itself

Yep, I swapped places, swapped hides but he would just sit in that one particular hide regardless of placement. But I guess he reads my posts because he finally decided he wanted to sleep in it tonight of all nights
