Sand?

We have bought a horsefield tortoise today just two years old...he doesn't seem to like the woodchips in his table! Does anyone know if sand is okay to use?! I don't want him getting Ill but I want him to be comfy!

May we know where you are?

And, is "Clarice" your name or just your username?

Don't use sand. It sticks to the food and may cause impaction if ingested. My favorite substrate is cypress mulch or orchid bark. But quite a few keepers use coconut coir.
