The guy down the road was cleaning up his "back forty" and had a bunch in a trailer he was taking to the dump . I stopped and he said "take it all" I settled for a couple paddles , and wrapped it in a wet towel and put them in my shop . I will get a nice pot and some soil / sand mixture and be good to go ! :)

Was it the spineless variety?

Don't over water. Allow the soil to dry out before you water.

Easy enough to despine when the time comes. I buy cheap dollar store pot scrubber pads (like Scotch Brite) and holding the pad under running water, lightly scrub the pad with the pot scrubber. This gets them off easily. Then I toss that scrubber.

Another way is to singe them of by holding with tongs over the stove. Someone told me that they rub the pad all over their hair and this removes the glochids. I'm not brave enough to try that one.
