so as you may remember, I have a wild caught, pet store bought Russian. I've noticed that on her underside, there are parts of the shell that seem to have some superficial cracks and are able to flake off around them, revealing another layer of shell.
1. Why is this happening?
2. Is this lower layer of exposed shell sensitive for her?
3. Should I try removing this outer layer that gives easily? It looks like I could probably take pieces off in some areas but others are firm and ok. It seems like there could be moisture trapped underneath and that would probably not be a good thing.
I hope she's not in pain or sick
It reminds me of when my RES is growing and sheds scutes but that's not supposed to happen to RTs is it?
