Shell problem

could some one look at these two pics and tell me what is wrong with these tortoise. i just got three Yellow Foots and to of them have this i don’t know if this is shell root or if it is just damage to their shell or what

That is some narly damage....it appears to be in the healing (or drying out stage) process....perhaps an injury or was a pretty significant bout of shell rot....

Where did they come from?

I bought them off of Kingsnake. but yeah it is dryed out but i just did not know. i was thinking about just treating it like shell root to make sure.

That is some pretty rough damage... did the seller make you aware of it before you bought the torts? I can't really tell, but how big are they?

In any case, treating for shell rot certainly can't hurt... better safe than sorry.

I've only ever adopted animals with shell damage. Except Lilith I purchased her at the pet store & saw how messed up her shell was & possibly wild caught. Just looks like someone twacked her good IE other tortoise, or she stayed in a hiding spot that caused the damage on the tip top of her shell. But with all the soaks & sun and vitamins she's a happy camper & the spot is dry & healing up well. But man it takes time....

Have you complained? I would at the very least demand a discount. If you paid by credit card I would threaten a chargeback. Also, would you mind sharing who the seller is so we don't make the same mistake?
