I'm really confused!! My female RES and male YBS have been trying to 'tortoise walk' in their tank? On the bottom (and land) they, like, arch their front legs and kick around their back legs, and it looks like they're trying to 'walk'? I was afraid it was a seizure, but I read turtles don't have seizures?? What are they doing?

Okay. I guess I found out why! My female RES laid an egg. It wasn't viable :( but she has 4 more (vet trip) so I immdeiatley relocated her to an soft dirt+water nest site, and she is currently digging. I guess 'Hugo' is actually a girl :( because I took 'him' to the vet to, and 'he' has 6 eggs.... :( I will be moving my remaining (father) turtle to their old 125 gal so that my girls don't become gravid again!

Good luck!

You do know they don't need a male to lay eggs . They can hold semen for years . Just an fyi.

Hmmm, I didn't know that! Well, the person I got them from housed together for years since he got them :) They weren't fertile though :( maybe someday, but I'm not really sure that I'm ready to take on lots of little babies right now, even if the eggs were fertile :(

Maybe you should rename her Hazel.
I think that Hermia should be for a hermanns tortoise.
Kind of disappointed that she ended up being a girl! Ruby has layed the rest of eggs. I have to get a picture of them, really cute :p (just say Hugo for now) hasn't started to dig her nest yet :(

The eggs weren't fertile. I threw them out. If my YBS's eggs are fertile (she hasn't layed yet) I will still discard them , because they would also be a cross-breed, and I know how many turtles need homes right now :)
