Hi!

I just got my new baby leo a few days ago and I noticed yesterday that his plastron is pretty soft. Should I be worried or is it because he’s just a baby?

Thanks!

How old is the baby? When they're super young, even to a few months old, they'll have more flexible plastrons because they were curled up in eggs.

Also, define "soft". Slightly flexible but still solid is normal for very young babies. "Squishy" almost like skin might be cause for alarm.

My baby Russian came with a flexible plastron, and just recently on inspection I realized it hardened, but that's after several months of a good diet, available cuttle bone (which he attacks every day) and access to UVB lights.
