Softshell shell rot or abrasions?

Just got him, he was on small gravel when I got him but now he's in sand. He has a piece of driftwood to bask on as well

Oh my gosh he's pretty. What kind of soft-shell turtle is he? I don't recognize the yellow stripe on the head.

I would worry that it is shell rot. I've heard that a little bit of salt in the water helps. Talk to Gerards about your new turtle. He's very knowledgeable on the subject of soft-shell turtles.

He's a Florida softshell. Unfortunately they lose the coloration as they grow

Raised Florida soft shells. Love how pretty and dark the babies are. I don't think that is shell rot, is it just on the top?

It's just on top and seems to fade away outside of water for the most part, still slightly visible but not much.
