I'm sorry I don't trust much that is store bought . I favor home made compost cause I don't have to read the fine print . I have 5 composters to keep me happy !

How much soil are going to need? It might be worth it to get a truckload of topsoil.

The tricky but is that 'Organic' can mean approved for use under the organic food list as being naturally derived and organic, as in organic chemistry, just means carbon-based. Either way, it could be fine for growing plants, not necessarily for the enclosure.

I would not use "Potting Soil" for anything that the tortoise will have access to. Usually potting soil has perlite and all sorts of additives in it.

Read the ingredients on the bag of the package.

I have been using "Kelloggs Garden Soil" in the big 3.0 cubic foot bags for years with no issues.
