I didn’t realize how slow they grow

i got two of them from billy gangemi 10 yrs ago, he told me how slow they grow, i now know what he was saying...... 10yrs and the bigger of those 2 is somewhere around 6".... the cleveland zoo raises blandging's turtles, i've seen some there that appeared to me to be 11-12"...... i've read it can take 15-20 yrs for a female to reproduce in the wild.....

wood turtles grow fast, this is 8yrs this november

Stunners. I want to get some Blandings, woods, and some Chinese box turtles some day.
i've had all 3, they are 3 of my favorites also....... my weather is a bit much for the chinese box turtles...... i'm told they do fine in southern ohio, i'd think your weather would be good also......

Congratulations, You do great work with all your turtles. Love the setups you have for them.
thank you Len, them being native to this area is helpful....... i see raising sulcatas where you are as way more of a challenge.......

I saw that documentary on the population in Nova Scotia. Pretty hardy species and really beautiful too....nearly as good looking to me as a Maryland terrapin.

Very cool!

Absolutely love the blandings and woods. You do a great job with them! They are 2 of a very very few species I would add to my collection. If every you have some you want to let go....
if i had the right permit i'd have sent you a couple already....... i could think of nowhere they'd be better off....... did you finish your new pond?

as hatchlings and young turtles, they seemed a little sensitive to water quality, some shell/plastron issues...... they now appear unbelievably solid........ 50F and overcast doesn't even put them down, they're out looking for food......
