The benefits of virtually living in the woods is that I'm surrounded by an array of weeds I can put together for my tortoises every week, with the freedom to not worry about pesticides.
I'm very fortunate. When I take my dogs on hikes in the woods I can just load up for the week. It’s quite dry here so spring is the only real chance I have to offer safe weeds; we load up on them for sure. A wetter climate sure provides more opportunities, lucky for your tortoise!
Living the dream.I live in a greenhouse
It sure makes some things simplerLiving the dream.
Sounds like a good hustleI turned mine loose for a Sunday buffet. We take it for granted. I use to ship giant boxes of leaves to people living in cities for dart frogs.
You have supportive neighbors.WA is great if it comes to all year round weed selection. Our yard front back and side weeds and grasses. No chemicals. We have 4 dogs and a cat too that munch on grass. Many of my friends have raised beds and leave weeds around and keep bringing them as a treat to my tort. My neighbors refuse to use any weed killers on they lawns and they said they cant wait for Herbie to be bigger and come over to enjoy some snacks. We live close to many natural trails and people in general are very nice to nature.
When I see lawn with no weeds I always say - Herbie cannot visit here![]()
