So my four month old sulcata has a sprinkler system in his enclosure for humidity that I only have on during the day because it gets too cool in his enclosure if i have it on at night. Well last night I thought I turned it off but it was left ON, when I wake up this morning I see my tort has some slight discharge from his nose. I’m so frustrated at myself and how quickly illness happens. He has a CHE at night to keep it at 84 but I guess it wasn’t enough. Should it take him to the vet or just keep his temperatures up for awhile and see if he improves in his own? I also have some leftover baytril antibiotics as well that I got for him awhile back from last time. Thank you

Is it 84 everywhere in the enclosure? Where is that thermometer?

Humidity should be maintained by using a closed chamber, not misters. If you need misters then you have the wrong type of enclosure. This shouldn't be happening. If temps are correct, a wet enclosure won't make them sick.

Hi! Sorry for the late reply, upon closer inspection I noticed that he doesn’t have a respiratory infection at all and I was just paranoid. The sprinkler system is more like a mister. It comes on 2 times during the day for 30 seconds on a specific area of the terrarium for humidity. It doesn’t mist the whole terrarium. His basking area is 90-95 and the cool side is 80 during the day but at night I use the CHE to keep the whole enclosure at 83 degrees. I usually turn the mister off at night I just forgot to when I fell asleep the night after I made this post so I was worried. Will probably just stick with misting with a spray bottle to prevent this from happening again. Again thank you for the response but he is just fine now ☺️

Oh and to add, the terrarium is in a closed chamber mini green house as well and I use a temp gun and 2 thermostats on each on of the enclosure to monitor the temps

Stop the misters and spray bottle. Pour warm water into the corners. The damp substrate won't hurt unless temps are too cold. Humidity could be 100% for a sulcata and as long as temps are right he won't get sick.
If you use the mister the water should be warm not cold.
