Starting his burrow

Our 4 year old Sulcata has started digging a burrow. We live in Arizona and the summer months are typically 100+, reaching as high as 110. He has a 4' x 6' house that I can keep heated to the high 80's but I can't cool it down in the summer. Last summer was his 1st summer with us and he lived in his house but the temps were high (his heaters were off all summer). Today he started his burrow and he's already got it 2 feet deep. Should I let him dig it out or stop him? If I let him continue how deep will he go with it? What about other critters going in with him? Will they bother him? There are mice out here, ground squirrels and an occasional snake. His house is in an area that is fenced and closed up at night but I've never seen any signs of any other critters around. Should I cover the entrance to the burrow at night and uncover in the morning? Or leave open all the time? There is a tunnel going into his house so his house is more L shaped and at the inside corner is where he started his burrow. So he's heading under his house. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
