Well we found this guy (or gal) crossing a busy road this morning. I got him home and thought I'd take a few pics & see what I've got and get him to the farm on sunday. Let me know what you think!

It's a beautiful Three Toed...and yes it's looks like the one that Terra found, but her's has a big black spot on it's mouth. Wow... why don't I ever find something like that.

I agree :) it's a Three-toed box turtle and a female.

Cool! Thanks for the info : D I have some friends that have quite a bit of land, I think I will take her out there so she's away from all the traffic where I live. I'd love to keep her but looks like she's done well for herself so don't know that she would be happy with a captive life style. She is a beautiful girl!

Oh don't do that! Relocating a male isn't such a bad idea but a female boxie goes back to the same spot she was born every year to lay her eggs. I would take her back to the road you got her from and just place her on the other side in the direction she was heading. They don't always take the same route back out so maybe she will head a different direction when she's done. I'm sorry your heart's in the right place but relocating her is just going to cause her one huge trip, likely across several more roads... That is so terribly nice of you though!!

This is perfect and correct advice!!! Why can't I ever find a turtle in the road...

WooHoo I guessed right before I read what the experts had to say. I guess I souldn't be that proud considering I have a Three Toe. That one is in great shape compared to my poor Trudy.

Ok, I will let her back where I found her. Only about a block from where I live, I will wish her well & safe travels : ) Thanks again for all the advice!

I just wished the ones I see in the road weren't roadkills. :(
