You did a great job. You incorporated two of my favorite features, the upstairs level and the viewing window. Now I do have a couple of questions/possible concern areas.

First, the ramp. Am I seeing tacks to hold the carpet down? My fear is if someday one gets worked loose, with the shiny color, I would be afraid the tortoise could eat it. Even stepping on it's point could hurt.

Second, the walls are neat visually, but Russians can be great climbers. Between the walls and the corners, I can see an escape in the making. Do you have a lid or something to keep him from escaping, if he climbs out?

Third, I like the hide you bought for him. It looks like if he climbs on it, he could go over the side and fall down to the level below.

I do like what you have done and like I said, just had a few thoughts about what I may be seeing.:)

Your enclosure is very well thought out regarding construction, etc. I like the fact that the sides were pre cut to include the upper level, I think this is a lot easier to secure and looks better.
Jacqui makes some very good points, sort of 'fine tuning' issues. Most of us end up shifting things around as we observe our torts!
A lip on the upper level, and some corner caps on the lower ones should take care of potential escapes.
Personally, I like the combined UV/heat MVB's myself, because generally you do want heat and UV in the same place. These do need to point straight down or they won't work correctly, BTW.
During the day, I have an incandescent/basking bulb on my second level to keep things brighter.
Nice!

Hi

he did climb on top of his cave within an hour of him moving in so this has been moved so if he does climb on it again he cant fall off his second floor.

i was concerned about the pins 2 im looking into getting some velcro to stick it down instead then i can still wash the cage carpet.

up to now he hasnt tried to climb the walls but i will keep an eye out for this

cheers

Oh wow you did a fantastic job! My tortoise table is very simple and its basically just a box, but yours is so complex. The upper level and the viewing window are a really nice touch. You must be very skilled :D

Thanks :) once the wood was cut it was pretty simple. I must admit I had a little help from my dad

Hi Shell:

Sorry you didn't get a "welcome" when you first posted. I usually read ALL the "introductory" posts, but your first post was here, in the enclosure section. So...

Welcome to the Tortoise Forum!! (better late than never :p )
