How many gallons would you guess is in a tank that is 3 feet across? Of course I know it will not be super accurate because I don't know the other dimensions but if the other dimensions were of an average tank, what would you guess the tank size is?
I am rescuing a tortoise who All I was told was its tank was "3 feet"
Just trying to figure out immediate needs. It will be outside once I have that enclosure finished.

Assuming it's not custom made and is a 'standard' tank, it could be anything from a 30 to a 50 depending on the other dimensions. There's no way to tell for sure without knowing the other dimensions.

If I just guessed, I'd say a 40 breeder. Just because.

Ok they have a Russian in that. Far too small right?
Would this size be ok for a baby sulcata for a while?

I also would highly doubt it is custom, apparently this was a class pet.

It might be ok for a hatchling of any type, but certainly NOT ok for an adult russian. (And not a stupid question at all)

As a side note, the only "stupid" question is one not asked! Good luck.

Length X width x depth x 7.5= Gallons :)

What unit of measure for the dimensions?
1" x 1" x 1" x 7.5= 7.5gal
1ft x 1ft x 1ft x 7.5= 7.5gal
^^not equal^^

Sorry. This is not right.

A 10 gallon is 10"x20"x12".

So with your formula I get 10x20x12x7.5=18,000. This is not correct.

The correct formula for figuring out gallons is length (all in inches) x width x height / 231.

So 10x20x12/231=10.389

Linz, your tank is probably a 40. That is the most common size at 36" long.
