Substrate debate!

Hi everyone,

Quick question, I'm going to change my russian tort's substrate to orchard bark or reptibark. I was leaning more towards reptibark because it holds the humidity. But I wanted others input, thank you!

I believe orchid bark and Reptibark are both fir. Both are acceptable. If you can find cypress mulch/bark, it is also a favorite for Russians.

Sounds like they are. So I think at this point it's a matter of opinion.

I have seen repti bark in action and it seems to work well

How about some plain dirt? Gives him an area to burrow into. Maybe 1/2 to 3/4 bark and the rest dirt. You could also lay dirt on the bottom and bark on top.

True. Some people do still want to debate about using sand. Don't understand what they don't get, but they still argue...
