I'm sure there are varying opinions, but I would like to hear them all. I got my young adult male about 2 weeks ago. I currently have him on a cypress bedding from zoo med(?) mixed with some lava rock and some botanical grass on top. He seems to like it. He also likes his basking spot, which is a mountain of lava rocks. Any suggestions? He is.currently in a single zoo med house but I am planning to double it as he gets bigger.

I use coco choir. The thing is that you want to use something that can be digested of your tort eats it by accident, which happens. I've always heard not to use wood chips. Most folks use coco choir mixed with organic top soil or a playground sand... or all three.

Coco choir + playground sand is what I've got in my setup I'm working on.
