Hi, I'm hearing some squeaking too! My one year old Sulcata, Spud, has recently started squeaking at night after I turn off his lights. The night temp without lights is 70°F. He shows no signs of a respiratory infection. He will squeak once or twice and then go to sleep. Any thoughts?

Welcome to the Forum. I couldn't tell you what is causing the squeaking noise. It could be something blocking one of it's nares, that usually sounds more like a whistle, but could sound like a squeak. Check it by shining a light into it's nose. In the early stages of an URI the tortoise may show no signs at all. If you have any reason to suspect your tortoise may have an upper respiratory infection raise that night time temperature to 80°F.

What kind and what's the age? In most cases, 70 is too low a temp for young tortoises and even some adults. If you have a baby, get the temp to 80.
