I'm planning on updating my yearling yellow bellied slider to a 40 or 55g tank this month. What decorations/hides should i add? Are any fish ok to put in? What about snails and shrimp? What should I use as a basking area for him?

i keep fish in with my YBS. she eats some of them but if they make it a few days then they are pretty much gonna live a full life. for some reason she gives up on them after a few days. i have put snails in but they become quick snacks. Crayfish, both store bought and wild caught are quickly devoured too. i quit buying crayfish but my woman and kid will catch half a dozen or so every once in a while as a treat for him
