We are getting ready to move. I will be in the new location and DH will be making a trip up with some stuff, including the turtles. So while I'm home this week and next, I'm going to pluck the turtles from their enclosure as I see them.

What is a good medium to have them in for a couple of weeks so they will still be outside and getting sun and fresh air, but have stuff to dig into?
I have their winter pile of pine needles, oak leaves and probably some mulch as well. I might have some peat somewhere and can also pull some dirt out of the garden.

They will also be in that for a bit until a new temp pen can be built since we are going to be building a house, so renting for a while until we can get into the house.

You could use large bins, or horse troughs. Large kiddie pools maybe. I'm not sure if you mean something just to transport them in order to have them in for a while. You can get some Pete Moss or coconut coir. And then just add all the stuff from your yard.
