This is The Sleeping Lady.... From right to left.....Her head with nose pointing up then her breast a little further down is her arms laying on her abdomen.
This is my Front yard, great isn't it. It was called this by the Tubatulabal Tribe. This was used as a marker for plains tribes to meet with them to trade goods. The coastal tribes traded with the Tubatulabal tribe which then traded with plains tribes. This is how plains tribes have sea shells in their garments or ceremonial objects. This tribe is documented to be in this valley for more than 3000 yrs. WOW that's a long time, before Jesus....for those that believe. I plan on posting many different pics of her in many different lights. enjoy.

The Grand Tetons were similarly named. Lots of mountain ranges named after lady parts... :D

Its beautiful and you are very lucky.

I grew up in NJ where (despite its reputation) everything is lush and green and thickly wooded. After 20 years here I am still awed by the mountains that surround Los Angeles after a rain storm washes away the smog. Its so beautiful.

It's a good thing I didn't live in those times with my tribe depending me to meet the other tribe to exchange goods at the sleeping lady. I just don't see it!

Here we go ... If you start on the right you will see her head and nose, the nose is the small point on the rounded mountain. As you start to go down the mountain (left)the next bump is her breast, then continuing left down the mountain the next bump is her hands. Her hands are laying over her waist and in this pic it's hard to see but you can see her arm coming down the mountain towards you. I will try and get better pics to show it clearer. IMG_0596.jpeg

I don't know how true that folklore is, though. One would have to be approaching from the side the picture was taken from in order to see that lady. ??? At any rate,, you're right, Dana, you live in paradise!

we also have here about a mile from us, on private property, in a cave, what look like hieroglyphs. There is (if memory serves me correct here) a snake, lizard and goat maybe a deer. If i can locate the photos or get back there I'll take pics again. And yes I hear you on the story I have no way of knowing if it's true either.

Well it finally happened, we have a wildfire near that filled our air with smoke. The Trout fire is just on the other side of the mountain from us and is 0% contained. IMG_1969.jpeg

We have the Highway as a fire break and a BLM Fire Station 1 Mile away. (Bureau of Land Management) As of now no real threat.
Our evac plan is a 300 gallon IBC Tote on a trailer with a water pump hooked up and 200 feet of hose. With all these animals that depend on us for there safety we will NEVER leave. This isn't a BadA** remark just our reality, this is what we signed up for. Unfortunately people that want to be a rescue do not think this way usually.
Thank You for your concern it does mean a lot.

You and all the animals will be in my thoughts! There was a forest fire risk here too, but I am glad that some rain came here and the dryness has subsided.

When I think about forest fires and Finland vs USA, I can't help but think about Trump and forest raking. (This statement has nothing to do with politics 😁, https://yle.fi/a/3-10513765)

After the devastating fire in Paradise,CA the U.S. gov. did studies to find towns/cities that were similar to Paradise. They studied all kinds of parameters to see if any where would face the same challenges that Paradise did. The town of Wofford Heights, CA was deemed the "Town most like Paradise in all of the USA." This town is about 40 miles from us and sits right on Lake Isabella, it is situated on a fairly steep mountain side. When said town received this designation within 30 days residents started to have their insurance policies cancelled. Now 3+ years later less than 5% of residents have ANY form of homeowners insurance. The only insurance that is available is insurance offered by the state of CA and even those policies are being cancelled slowly. Almost every home in a 50 square mile area have NO insurance of any kind, due to forestry MIS management.
