Can't use a thermostat on a MVB due to the internal ballast. Can't use a rheostat either. Gotta adjust the temp by moving the fixture up or down.

I don't use a thermostat on a mvb . I use one on a che . All you have to do with a mvb is raise the lamp . If you have a closed chamber then get a lower wattage lamp or put a dimmer on it . But if I remember right they can't be dimmed . I could be wrong I haven't wired a house in a long time so it maybe possible. I'm a motor control electrician.

I was thinking that an mvb that cant be dimmed switched on and off will just keep getting hotter and hotter on the site it is pointing at?

Is a che a ceramic heat emitter?
