It’s officially starting to warm up to squirts desired temperatures🥰she’s had the odd day out here and there when it’s warm enough, but now the good weather is here, I want to get her official area set up, I think after weighing everything up, having to take into consideration it’s a temporary run that needs to be compactly stored, but also high enough for their little dog not to jump, the original run I posted is our best option, @Alex and the Redfoot i really liked that privacy screen you linked, only thing is it’s a long shipping date and a bit pricy, I’ve found this, I know it’s thinner, but because of the height I can double it up, won’t look as nice, but do you reckon it cloud do the trick for a visual barrier? It’ll save me £20 and I’m thinking I’ll poke zip ties through to attach it to each panel

My primary concern is that fabric will start to tear down around zip ties. But I would give it a try.

Got super lucky on Facebook! Found the same run for less than half the price with bamboo covering all in! It’s a bit rusty and marked in spots, but that’s no bother, I’ll give it a good scrub.
I’m thinking the bamboo probably needs replacing, but should do the trick till that stronger privacy screen stuff arrives, may as well get the better privacy screen as I’ve made a huge saving, and who knows, maybe the bamboo stuff is still in good condition, buzzing🥳 will definitely post photos once I’ve set her area up, so happy she’ll finally have a place we don’t have to follow her around in😂

🥳🥳🥳 That's awesome!!!!! Great catch!!!!
Super excited! She’s so good at staying on the grass bless her, but whenever we catch her heading towards the back of the garden where there’s gravel we have to get up and redirect🥲it’ll be so nice being less hands on outside, she’s going to love it🥰

Do you have to worry about birds swooping down and grabbing her, or some other critter that could jump in and abscond with her? - Does it need a top?

I know you are an amazing artist. Why not paint the slices of boards that Tom suggested so that everyone else would think it was cute rather than boards? It could look like an intentional yard decoration that accidentally doubles as a tortoise refuge....

Ooops. I missed the good score in #26.
Still going to leave this, though.

No we’re lucky in that there’s no predators in our area, just cats lol, we don’t really get any big birds, just pigeons, blackbirds and little garden birds, there’s hawks but they aren’t very big here and we’ve never seen one in the garden, but she’ll never be unsupervised out there anyway, they’re always in and out during the good weather, with this run they won’t have to keep the door closed cause their little dog won’t be able to get to her anymore, so they’ll only be a few meters away, the kitchen over looks the garden, my moms always tatting about in there lol.

Yeah I did really like the board idea, trouble was storage, they don’t really have a place for tall planks and I wouldn’t be able to make it high enough for the dog not to jump🫤

Super happy finding the run for cheap though, it should work a treat😁

Finally got squirts run🥰managed to find an Amazon listing with a ‘used like new option’ that was £25 off, so still made a save! Then found this stuff for cheaper than the other privacy screen stuff, I only managed to do one panel before loosing the light today lol, but it works a treat!

I got it all set up for her, even though the privacy screen wasn’t done, it was too nice to not let her check it out today, she did keep poking her head through the bars, further proving why our torts need visual barriers, but hopefully I’ll get most of it done tomorrow, all in all she’s happy with her new designated area, and can now happily roam without human bodyguards redirecting her in the garden🥲

Here’s some sneaky peaks, it’s currently set up as roughly 10x10, but can be made bigger once we’re in the height of our summer

She decided to give my chair leg a taste..

But thankfully decided dandelion leaf was tastier

Finale thoughts, it’s super sturdy and will work perfectly for what we need it for, especially once I’ve done the barrier. Their little dog can’t get in too which is great.
I still wouldn’t personally recommend it for a permanent outdoor enclosure boarder, I don’t think it’d be robust enough for 24/7 living(it’d start to weather), I don’t know if it would work for a Russian, I think they’re too good at climbing to escape or digging under🥲luckily squirt is one of the laziest, most chilled out tortoises there is, it’s clear this will contain her well for the limited time she gets to spend outdoors(and she’ll always be closely supervised), it’s a shame we don’t get warmer temps for longer, but I’m glad she can make the most of it in here without being followed round. I’m very glad we went with this choice, everything about it works great for us and squirt, here’s to a fun summer🐢💚

Thank you! Me too🥰I look forward to making it pretty with some nice potted plants, they’ve been wanting some more for their garden anyway, so may as well take the opportunity to spruce up her section lol
I digged some of my small plant pots in the soil. And I like how it looks 😏
