Thought I would share some pictures of my two hermanns with everyone! Tilly is the female and is 10 years old and Tommy is the male and is 6 years old. Tommy has a problem with his back legs and the vets have said they don't no what to do, but he still seems to get around ok and is a happy little guy.Piccies 019.JPGPiccies 025.JPGPiccies 005.JPGRandom 048.JPGthese pix r kwl ight 075.JPG

He can move them but doesn't use them when walking. When you touch them he does pull them away so does have feeling in them. I asked on here for advice and went to see a vet but he wasn't a specialist in reptiles and said to sprinkle nutrabol on his food everyday for a week to see if there was improvement and there wasn't. He also had an x-ray that didn't show anything.

I love the shell that is showing in the picture taken in the food dish. Gorgeous.

Nice looking tortoises, thanks for sharing the pics. I love the carapace markings and the personalities of Herman's.

Be well
Jeff

Gem, you have a very nice looking pair of Hermans. Sorry to hear Tommy's back legs are not doing well. Do you feed them Calcium often? and Do they get plenty of sunlight?

Yes they have nutrabol every 3 or 4 days and have a cuttle bone (which they haven't touched since I had them). They both go out in the garden on nice days and I have a UV tube on their table, though they have been without one for a couple of weeks. Any ideas?

Tilly and Tommy are 2 amazing torts, they are very cute :D.

I hope your vet or someone here will find out why Tommy does not use his back legs. Good luck :)

Thanks Isa! They are such sweet little characters!

My vet seems to have given up, he is not sure what it is. I am currently looking for a reptile vet in my area which is proving difficult! If anyone has any ideas on Tommy's legs please let me know!
