tortoise being bad

ok my males being really aggressive lately, i dont know whats brought this on. he'll thrash about really aggressivly when i decide to pick him up and put him in his tank. also ano it might be trying to be the alpha male but its got to the point when im getting annoyed with him. any tips to calm the beast lol :)

he had a separate tank for 6 months but he was acting worse then - flipping over he water bowl, but when we got a female he was agressive for 3 days and then it stopped but now ( 2 months later) hes started again

Interesting. Does he have time outside? Do you put both outside? I'm thinking he needs to get out for a while and burn his energy.

My Russians are outside 24/7 so I have not experienced this behavior.

yes. They get outside the majority of the time, right now i only have two theroys.
1. Hes jelious because theres another tortoise and all my attension isnt spent on him
2. Hes sexully matured. ano hes only 2 years old and he shouldnt until 6 but i sware to god hes had his man part out a couple of times :| ( is that normal at there age?)

hmmmm...I don't have Leopards (although I think they are pretty awesome and from what I understand, big personalities :p )

Maybe he is just coming into himself....maybe he realized he is a male and there is a female around and maybe that has triggered the "hey I have testicles" (so to speak) thing that happens with the boys at some point... maybe if he has more outside time, hide some of his food to make him search for it...give him a mud puddle to slop around in...just some suggestions :p

I am sure he can still have a fleeting moment of cuteness huh...LOL

I've seen the thrashing about when a tortoise is picked up. This could be causing some stress on him. When you pick him up, try holding him by the plastron in the palm of your hand. That might help calm him down a little so he doesn't feel like he's suspended in open air. Knocking over things in his enclosure might be a sign that he needs more space. Just my opinion.

THANKS for your input :) i always hold them with my palm. i think he was just have a few bad days hes better now
