Tortoise enclosure

I have my tortoise enclosure outside on my patio. Would it stay warmer if i leave it on the ground or prop it up on pavers?

Where do you live? Is it in half shade and half sun?

I live in arizona, the porch gets direct sunlight until 10am. I'm asking more about night time temps and which way would be warmer. I have a che and am going to order a heat rope.

I'm not really sure what to tell you. I guess, if you have a heat gun, you could shoot the temp on the patio and then see what that compares to the air temp. Not sure if it will matter. If it gets too cold period, you will have to use the artificial heat either way. See what others say, sorry.

I kept a tortoise enclosure outside on my patio when I was in an apt. I left it on the ground. My enclosure was a cement mixing tub filled with clean yard dirt. My temps were always fine during the day, I never checked at night because my tort wasn't out there.
What is your enclosure made of? That may make a difference, may not. I'm assuming it will not.

Isn't cold on the ground and warm at the top like in houses the bottom floor is colder than the upper floor

I dont think having an outside enclosure on the ground vs. it being lifted up on pavers will make any significant difference.

Inside your house a tort pen on the floor vs. on a table top will make a difference.

For Mike7straub, you will have to monitor your daytime and nighttime temperatures and make sure they are ok to leave the tort outside regardless of the enclosure being on the ground or set up on pavers. So in my experience and my opinion you choose either one to your preference cuz it will not make a difference in warmth.
