Hi,

Can you tell the inches in centimeter?:-D
So I can compare with my animals.
And the F in Celsius? :-D
Because in the sommer I didn't put my erosa in the outdoor because I think it is to cold, humidity is to low..

2.54cm = 1 inch.. 8 inches would be right at 20cm juli

32 degrees F is freezing.

Where are you located?

Well 12 is definitely SPP. 8 I agree with juli11, definitely from homophus, and probably signatus.
I thought you still kept your erosas? Did you really have them laying at 7 inches?
They definitely are cold and rain tolerant, mine have been out in 45 in rain and have been very content.

Lowest breeding I've seen from them was at 55

The erosa were kept in about 6" of leaves/litter in the same building as my redfoots. Something in the air [ we speculate ] was not agreeable and wiped out 80% of my redfoots I had been working with [ some ] for over 10 years! It was devastating...

The largest females ( 4 ) produced about a dozen eggs over a year time - they were breeding in my back yard 6 weeks out of Africa!

More on the ID later...

Thanks. That would be very cold!!
They aren't ill after that? Or have any problems with a wet nose etc?
I'm from Germany.

Off the top of my head the three temps quoted:
65=about 20 Celsius
45= 7/8 Celsius
55= about 13 Celsius
They are definitely very cold tolerant. I keep mine at around 24 degrees Celsius inside, anything over 27 and they slow down.

Ok thank you. So at the moment I have between 22 and 26 Celsius at my enclosure. But my erosa is the most at the time at the heating where it is 30C and more..

That's bizarre compared to my experience and what I've seen from others. I have a small hotspot of about 29 or so, but they only use it first thing in the morning. Is the enclosure different at the warmer end-more cover, different substrate, water sources etc.?

Remember these temps, etc. have to be measured at "ground-level"! I had someone ask about temps only to find his guage was about 8" [ 20cm ] above ground level ---- they don't FLY hahaha!

I'll get these ID's back on topic later today... still luv those erosa!!!

Yep. There is also now a subspecies of signatus. Homopus signatus cafer. Not much of a difference. But the smallest species of them all is that little guy. Too bad the mate deceased at the zoo. I know San Diego is successful in breeding these guys. Wee little guys.

Funny, how even the members who think they know it all can't always ID something, hmmm, not always so obvious. Fun thread though and great pics.
