I am wondering do tortoises go to sleep everyday at the same time?
or if everything went dark, then they will sleep?

if anyone of you who has dog, you will know, if we turn the light off and go to bed
so they will do the same thing too

what about tortoises?

Yes, if it is complete darkness they will eventually go quiet/sleep...at least in my experience....:D

The word being eventually! Some nights Joe will be stomping well after dark... this happens if the day has been very hot and he's been inactive.

Normally he's tucked in for the night by 5pm though.

They are temperature controlled primarily. If its not warm enough, they won't wake up properly.

If your tort is indoors, put your heat and lights on a timer and when it gets warm enough your tort should emerge.

My UVB and basking lamps come on at 6.30am, Joe has his soak at about 8.30am and his food straight after his soak. (I do sometimes pull him out of his bed for soak, but not often)

When he's outdoors, it's up to him when he gets up. It's entirely regulated by when the air temperature warms up. His cold frame, where he sleeps, is in the sunniest spot in the garden first thing in the morning, so he warms up quite quickly.

It's worth adding that if temps are too low overnight, it will take far longer for your tort to wake up. I have a ceramic heater on all night to keep things warm indoors.

If I turn Bowser's lights of when she is still awake then she will go to sleep. But there have been nights that I turn off her lights a little later than normal and I will see her already asleep.

Joe knows when its bedtime and goes off to sleep before lights out too. It doesn't mean he doesn't appreciate darkness to sleep properly :)

Domino seems to dig into his burrow around 8 or 9ish every night, regardless of what I'm doing or if his light is still on.

he is sleeping now,
on first day, I had put him inside the hide
today, he could go there by himself to sleep
one thing strange tho, sometime, i can see him shaking his head constantly, just few times. what does that mean?
