Tortoise smell

I've feeding my sulcata mazuri for few months now and i realize my tortoise have a mazuri smell around their head. I always put water on the mazuri until it soft before i feed my tortoise. Is it normal to have that smell or am i doing wrong?

It sounds like you are doing it correctly.

I've never gotten close enough to smell it after it's eaten. ? But I guess the tort's breath could smell like it for a while. Or if he got any on his head or face. I don't think it's anything to worry about.
