Slowly cut his soakings down until he gets accustomed to an appropriate amount of time like 15-45 min.

Make sure you check your temps. 95-100 basking, 80 all over if you have at least 80% humidity. If you aren't doing humidity his temps can be lower. I wouldn't think it would be a good thing to soak so much. But I am just guessing. See what others say. I would deff make sure the temps are right though. Also, have you check the threads at the bottom of my post. Great for raising smooth sulcatas.

Sometimes mine falls asleep in his bath at night. I just pull him out and put him somewhere else:)

Maybe he's dehydrated?

Another thought - Is the water directly under the basking light? The reason I ask is because I brought my hatchling on a business trip last week and set up a temporary indoor habitat in the hotel. The habitat was pretty small, so I placed the water under the basking lamp to save space. It made the water nice and warm and my tortie LOVED it. She sat in it constantly, even though there was a perfectly good, hot basking spot next to the water dish. I had to take the water out to prevent her from sleeping in it over night. She enjoyed it so much.

Sooo, if your tort's dish is under the basking lamp, and his spending all this time in it bothers you, you can try relocating the water dish.

I keep him outside during the day and being him in at night. Humidity levels outside are good.. Inside haven't monitored it... I need to buy the stuff for tank..
