I need to travel about 3 and a half hours this weekend, I was going to just buckle izzys whole enclosure in and throw a towel over it to make it dark. Any tips to make the trip happier and healthier for my little tort? ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1400086374.294908.jpg

Are you traveling in areas really cold or fair weather? You can get a box/container that is a few inches larger than the tort all the way around...put a towel in the box, put the tort in the box (if the weather is fair then that will do, if the weather is cold then toss under the towel one or two of those hand warmers you can purchase for humans) then top the box/container with something that will keep the space fairly dark and be on your way....

If you will be gone a long time then taking his enclosure is a great idea if it is possible. For the actual travel I would agree with ascott. The less he is able to move around while traveling the better as roll overs and bumps can be an issue. The last thing you need is to wreck while trying to make sure he is ok. Put him in a smaller box that you can place near you. If cold, the floor of the passenger seat is a good place because there is heat from the floor and you can turn on the floor vents. If you are only going to be gone for the weekend, freshen his water and drop a bit of extra food and let him chill at home. Get a cheap timer from your local hardware store or Wal-Mart (Tesco) across the pond :) and set his lights on a 12 - 14 hour cycle.

If its at all possible, I'd leave him at home where he's comfortable.
