turtle i.d.

A friend in China has this turtle and wondered what species it might be. Any ideas?

Although just an overhead carapace and little head pattern shown is hardly enough to ID - I'm thinking Quangtung ( spelling? ) River turtle.. closely related to Chinese 'Reeves'.

This is a Mauremys sinensis - a hatchling I had back then -





In the process of getting the pics posted you replied.. is the above shown it?

The 'stripe-neck' as adult is more round and stay lighter in color like the hatchling shown. The river turtle I had was more oval and had a "purple" hue to it like the original pic attached ( ??? ) It can be tricky sometimes!

Also the river turtle is much "thicker" and "high-domed - keeping in mind the specimen I had was only 6-7" too. [ not sure adult size of river turtle ]

From what I recall the adult M. sinensis that made the hatchlings I had were considerably larger!
