Sideneck turtle shell damage

Hey guys. A friend in Trinidad rescued this turtle that a dog had. It's just the carapace that is affected, so he says, and it's not deep. Any ideas?

It doesn't look too bad and the shell will heal over eventually. Just keep the turtle as you would any other one of that species (or better yet, let it go in the water source from which it most likely originated).
