No, Barb. . . if in CAlifornia, like the OP, they're not indigenous here.It's a box turtle. Not sure what kind. However, if we can get its ID and if it's a native species, it needs to be left in the wild.

Yup. Box turtles range ends like new Mexico the furtherest West I believe and those are like desert ornates. Three toeds go as far as Texas . we have the western pond turtle and res lolYou don't have any box turtles at all native? Didn't know that. Thanks
