It looks like the right kind. Optunia cactus. Also if it is the human edible kind, then torts can also eat it.

I belive most if not all cactus all eatable. The pictured is an Opuntia sp and as such is definately eatable.

Sp pretty thorn free? To my knowledge they can all be eaten. Just the "thornless" ones are much easier to get remaining thorns off for them to eat. Much easier for humans to work with too. :D

Yea, these are smooth all around, picked em by hand and love how they warm up in the sun. Hopefully they aren't too tough from being such a matured tree, I'll let you guys know! Thank you all!
Echo thanks you too! I couldn't understand why some folks were having theirs shipped in, growing it etc then 3 weeks after getting Echo we moved and I can't get the usual cactus in the store any more :( You figure having more spanish markets etc we could at least get something but not so far. Then I found these growing, yay!
