Hi all,
Has anyone played around with an under-substrate watering system for an indoor enclosure?

My thought is to hook a timed humidifier up to a pvc pipe that travels under the substrate. The pipe would section off in to 2 or 3 branches to cover more area, and they would have holes drilled in them. I'd probably include a heat rope above or around the pipes to help draw moisture out. Heat lamp above substrate would further increase humidity.

I'm wondering if anyone has done this and if it was effective. Thoughts appreciated.

I've tough of this before. I was thinking of just putting misters under the soil and I would just manually turn it on and off. Probably would use one of those insect sprayer sprays. Run a few hoses. As of now I have a mister and I poke around the substrate to add water in the lower areas of the enclosure. My substrate is 7-9 inches

I can't imagine any of this would be necessary in a closed chamber.
I haven't added water to my tank for days and I still have 85 percent humidity during the day and it spikes up to 99 percent at night.

What type of substrate do you use?

I use a false bottom in my table, like the way you make one for a frog or lizard but on a much larger scale, with a few pvc pipes leading down the substrate into the false bottom and I just add water once and a while and it keeps the substrate moist and a bit humid. Mine are both adults so they don't need a ton of humidity, plus I bathe them every week, so I don't water it constantly but its made so I could.
