Unfertilized Egg

My Russian, Peggy, laid an egg this weekend. I only adopted her three weeks ago so I'm not positive that it's unfertilized, but I'm fairly certain she was not around males in her former home.

My questions are: Can I check somehow to be sure it is unfertilized before I get rid of it/buy an incubator? If it is unfertilized, what do I do with it? Sounds like a dumb question, but it just feels odd to trash it.

The rule of thumb is, when in doubt incubate. If you don't want a baby, you can just toss it.
