Bob has had two tests, the cat scan and the ultra sound. He is now having a hard time urinating and he strains and cries out in pain. The vet is calling around to try to find someone who can do surgery, hopefully at the university. If you'd like to read more, you can find the story on Maggie's facebook page:

This update is a little late, so I'll start from your last update.

Maggie was struggling to get enough money for the surgery, until her guardian angel made a big donation. So it was all set for August21 in Portland. Then at the beginning of this week, her vet contacted the University in Maggie's town and they were going to see if they could get the stone removed at the Uni. They had all the equipment, they just needed to find a surgeon. From what I understand, they were going to go through the cloaca with some sort of scope tool, break up the stone and remove the pieces with the scope (or whatever the hell it was they were going to use). Maggie would take Bob home the same day.

So up to today. She called me this a.m. from Portland. The Uni couldn't find a vet, so she ended up going to Portland to the original vet. The surgery is underway, but Bob's plastron is so thick that the saw they use to make a cut keeps overheating and the plastron keeps getting too hot. The last phone call she told me that the vet is getting ready to reach inside and remove the stone. It is about the size of an orange and they feel it is a urate stone. Bob will spend some time in Portland before he can come home. Once he gets home, he has to be kept on a very clean floor, no substrate, and no outside time for about 2 weeks. The vet thinks the stone is due to diet and hydration.

I am glad to hear the surgery was able to be arranged. Sorry Bob and Maggie are havening to go through this. My leopard had a similar surgery last October, and is doing great. The vet had to repair a tear in her uterus, and she even laid eggs a few weeks ago!
Bob will bounce back and be good as new soon.

Thats great news. Now I just hope that Maggie and Bob don't have it too ruff for the next couple weeks. Recovery goes great and Maggie can start complaining again about the latest thing Bob has done.;)

She said it was the size of an orange. The vets and assistants took pictures, but I don't know if Maggie got any of them. She was going to email me the stone picture, though.
