18 month old Hermann in its new enclosure..(Arthur)..how close to the ground is his reptile uv lamp meant to be, we have ours suspended half way and he goes under it, we have it timed to go on and off..on for half an hour and off one hour and off at night. He came out of hibernation one week ago, he's doesn't seem bothered with food, maybe getting used to new environment? Any help for care..first time owners, absolutely love him!

Welcome to the forum. :tort:

I personally would not recommend glass/transparent enclosures. Torts see through them and would keep trying to get out, causing stress for the poor little torts. (Sorry, don't mean to let you down-am only trying to help you, ok?) ;)

Please read the "Beginners Mistakes Thread, which can help you. And give your cute little tort a soak in warm water every day. :D

Is that a uv bulb or a ceramic heating element?

He is sitting in the blue gravel thinking it is the world's suckiest pond :D

Where is his water dish?

I use glass myself and my tort has no issue. Seems to be an individual thing.
