Yes indeedCan i buy two terracotta trays one for water and one for food?
Oh that’s so annoying! Have you tried typing in ‘clay terracotta saucer’? Sometimes garden centres do them too!Well i thought the one i found was terracotta but it was plastic with the terracotta color and I couldn’t find anyone that is MADE OF TERRACOTTA
The problem is that this is the only one i found in the garden centre that i found the coco peat from that was advertised as terracottaOh that’s so annoying! Have you tried typing in ‘clay terracotta saucer’? Sometimes garden centres do them too!
What is the best saucer diameter for a hermann (western I guess from the video the breeder sent)Oh that’s so annoying! Have you tried typing in ‘clay terracotta saucer’? Sometimes garden centres do them too!
First of all i don’t remember that I said that I live in dubaiIt needs to be larger in diameter than your tortoise is long. There should be room for your tortoise to turn around in the terra cotta saucer.
Have you tried doing a Google search of "Terra cotta saucers in Dubai"? Or "Clay Terra cotta saucers in Dubai"?
Does Amazon ship to where you are? They have them.
It is correct but I was confused because I didn’t say anything about where i am locatedYour little profile on the side of each post, where your screen name is, says you are in Dubai. Is this not correct? If it isn't where are you located?
Can you look for just clay saucers? "Terracotta" is used to define color of the item (reddish-brown) and not the material in some languages. Also, sometimes word "ceramic" is used to describe material, but this often refers to glazed (enameled) items. The only one i found that was MADE OF TERRACOTTA is out of stock is there anything else I can use
I found some saucers (trays) labelled as ceramic but didn’t for clayCan you look for just clay saucers? Which one should i get?As long as it is NOT glazed or painted or in any way coated.
Glazed is a layer of glass amalgamated to the clay. It is too slippery and dangerous for your tortoise to use. The terracotta clay saucers are "unfinished", they have been smoothed and baked to harden the clay, but are not painted or coated in any way. This gives a slightly rough surface for your tortoise to have a bit of traction when getting in or out, and it also helps to wear off the nails (and beak if it is a food dish) to some extent.
This looks like the correct one (as I can tell from photo it's not painted, coated, laquered etc, just raw clay). 25cm diameter is too large and too deep for a hatchling. 7-10cm should be the right size.I found some saucers (trays) labelled as ceramic but didn’t for clay
Is the ceramic ok?
I have just sent another one but the problem that it’s out of stock but if it comes back to stock should i get it or get the 25cm diameter one (the other one is 19cm diameter and 3cm high) the tortoise appears to be 6-9cm from the photoThis looks like the correct one (as I can tell from photo it's not painted, coated, laquered etc, just raw clay). 25cm diameter is too large and too deep for a hatchling. 7-10cm should be the right size.
You can get a large dish and lay some large flat pebbles inside to make it more accessible for a tortoise. The real concern is that it will take a lot of space in the enclosure.I have just sent another one but the problem that it’s out of stock but if it comes back to stock should i get it or get the 25cm diameter one (the other one is 19cm diameter and 3cm high) the tortoise appears to be 6-9cm from the photo
