What form of water would be the best to spray/mist including the mulch and drinking? I've been buying big packs from costco of bottled water but would like to get a distiller or something? What are you guys using? I don't live in the country, so we dont have well water, but definitely city water.

Thanks

I have a filter on my tap, so I just use the filtered tap water.

Cooper gets his soaks in tap water (city), but the small thing I keep in his habitat, which has small steps on it for him to get in and out, is always bottled water, which is what he drinks. He never drinks during his soaks, he is either to busy pooping or trying to get out to drink. :)

Water for spray/soaks is straight tap, filtered in the water dish.

Tap water, well or city, should be fine for all uses. Remember, bottled water does not have the stringent regulations that tap water does. Bottled distilled water can be even worse with concentrated organic contaminants (benzene, etc.). You can fill a jug with tap water and allow it to sit for several hours if you are concerned about chlorine.

I have only used tap water for everything, my wife lets the water in spray bottles sit for a while but not me. If its okay for me it's okay for them...

Hi Nate:

"They" tell us not to drink water out of the hose, but I've been using water out of the hose for years and years for all my animals. I'm in the country with a water well. All my tortoises are outside. They get very hard water from the well and from the hose every morning and have been doing so for the past 35 or 40 years.

Yup...tap water here. If we can drink it, why not the torts. Been using it for my box turtles too for many, many years. No problem here.

Ditto with Yvonne G. except my water is "soft" and contains mild traces of sulphur.
