weather/ heating question

Its starting to get a little cooler where i live and I've noticed my tort doesn't really move anymore. He's alive but he hides alot. I was wandering if i should get him a night lamp since i think the cold might be causing this.

This has to do with temps and number of hours of light. It sounds like your tortoise is trying to put itself into hibernation. Totally normal for this time of year if you have not adjusted your heat and light timers. Warmer temps round the clock and longer days should help with this. I have my Russian babies at 14 hours of light a day now.

I have found that bringing them out and warm water soaking every other day or so helps convince them to stay up too.

Or you could hibernate him if you feel like the circumstances are right and you know how to do it.
