I don't know what it is, but when it used to come up in the horse pasture, the horses would never eat it.

Lambsquarters, I’m pretty sure.

A do not feed in the Tortoise Table but some members offer it, including me. My tortoise is not a fan.

Edible for humans!

What does it smell like? Sweet, musty, icky ...is it sticky where you pulled it away from plant? It looks a little not yummy here...I don't much like the blood red vein in the stem either....now I am curious as to what this is too.....

Lambs quarters, people in Europe used to eat it like spinach with no ill effects during food shortage time in WWII and few yrs after.
