Many opinions on this, but there is a very wide margin of error. Some like lower levels for a longer period of time, while others prefer higher levels for less time, and many variations between those two extremes. I've never seen any tortoise get any sings of MBD with any variation of this.

I like a reading somewhere around UVI 3-5, and I run it for about three hours mid day. I think a lot less than this would still be more than adequate. I think a lot more than that would not be harmful.

I bought the 6.5 when it was on sale at JOSH'S FROGS.
I'm not sure what the current price is. But it's probably the exact same unit
