Redfoot hatchling about 5 mo. Currently in large black storage box, 17.5" X 26", 8" deep. He goes outside 30 min or more each day, but that won't happen in the winter. We live in the Austin, TX area, warm/hot and humid. I suppose I'm asking which brand is the best and most dependable.

At 8" you have options
You can use an older T8 5.0 UVB florescent tube lamp
Or a T5 5.0 UVB florescent lamp and raise it up a bit.
The photo is of one of mine. All T5.
I bought one from BIG ALS PETS and two from LLL REPTILES.
Expect to spend about $50.
